Leading on from our 2024/25 programme, we have been sucessful in securing funding from the Arts Council for another year of exciting projects. Woo hoo!
Firstly, we have changed our name, we're now Access Arts For All - it falls off the tongue much more easily! Secondly, we have a brilliant new programme for you, that continues on from our previous journalism programme, takes our arts, crafts and creative sessions to greater heights, and connects us even further to nature and the history around us!
Here's the lowdown on our projects you can get involved with for 2026:
Mindful Mondays
(previously Wellbeing Wednesdays)
We are starting off these sessions in partnership with Kent Wildlife Trust on their Reaching Greater Heights Project.
The Reaching Greater Heights project is working to restore 80 hectares of rare chalk grassland across Dover Castle and the Western Heights.
The project also aims to help local people connect with nature, heritage, and their own creativity. That's where Access Arts For All comes in!
Kent Wildlife Trust will be working with us to run a series of workshops in Dover and online to help local disabled people to connect with their surroundings and historical spaces.
Activities will include: a virtual tour of the Western Heights, followed by a creative writing session inspired by the landscape, a photography workshop at the Citadel Café and St Martin’s Battery, and some arty activities such as painting, clay and collage.
Following on from this collaboration, from April onwards, we'll continue to run more arts and crafts with a link to nature and the environment.
Ramp it Up
An online magazine and podcast project that aims to amplify disabled people’s voices and provide a platform to share reviews, interviews and personal experiences.
Participants from our previous journalism programme, and those with some writing experience already, will be invited to be part of the journalism team as contributors.
We will also be running a brand new training programme to teach new members all about how to create content for a magazine. This will be a mix of an online training workshop, access to multimedia resources and a mentor to feedback on work.
The team at Access Arts For All are all very excited to see what you all create and welcome new members. If you'd like to find out more about out projects and activities, or want to become a member (it's absolutely free), then email Michelle on accessartsforall@gmail.com.
